In February of this year I bought a brand new Ford Transit Van from Tasca Autootive Group in Cranston. I had relatively no problem with the sales people, the problem was and continues to be with the service department Once I got the truck home, I actually didn't drive it for a few weeks since I had my old truck and didn't want to take the new van on the road during the worst winters we had in several years. One day I noticed that one of the back doors was damaged and also the magnetic door latch was broken. It was obvious that this happened from the Tasca personnel backing the vans in and out and hitting the huge snow banks in their parking lots. I immediately called Tasca to inform them of what I discovered They told me to bring in the truck and eventually they fixed the door. As for the magnetic door latch, they told me they didn't have one but could order it for me at no cost since the van is still under full warranty. Now it's July and I still don't have the latch after several phone calls and excuses from them. Their phone system is a great source of frustration ... you mostly get an automated answering message. After being prompted to push several numbers, I finally get an actual, live person only to be told that I don't have the right department. I get transferred and get another answering machine .. I leave messages and no one returns my calls. I decided to go to another local Ford dealership. I told them all the problems I've experienced with Tasca and this dealership could not have been more pleasant to deal with. They are courteous and attentive and I received prompt, professional service. AND when I call there, a live person answers the phone. They had no problem ordering the door latch for me; and while I will have to pay approximately $80 for the latch, I don't mind at all. It was never about the money, it's all about timely response and following through on what you commit to do. This is a classic example of poor customer service and how to drive away your customers!!!
